To me, this means indulging a person’s need to create, ideate, and problem-solve will lead them to make valuable changes and developments, be they in arts, sciences or societies. Getting people inspired and excited to create is what leads to the making of something high-quality through the time, effort, and care that’s put into it. Especially in today’s era of increasing AI influence, humanity desperately needs to keep creating with TLC because that is what will keep us developing and improving ourselves.

My photograph shows an eastern bluebird in his natural habitat; trying to locate worms on the ground to eat. Every choice he makes could mean life or death, so he must keep a sharp and focused mind. George Washington Carver’s quote means that we must keep our brain functioning and trained on strong goals, such as finding worms in the morning, in order to make developments in life.

To me this means in order for us to expand our creativity we have to learn to collaborate and explore new ways of looking at things.

When Carver says “stimulate and encourage that type of [creative] mind in any way possible,” it makes me think of all my musical experiences and how they all reflect in my piece, Golden Ratio. I grew up on R&B and Soul all my life, played cello in the classical music world for 4 years now, and now in DIM, I play lots of prog on my bass guitar. In different ways I tried to incorporate all these genres in different sections.
I don’t believe there is one way to experience or create music, and I try every day to simulate my mind by creating and experiencing all types of music. It’s why I love DIM.
