Progress happens where creativity is allowed. If there's only one way allowed to do something, then nothing will ever improve. In my lighting look, I chose to experiment with sidelights and gobos (patterns or shapes that you can put in a light) without ever seeing something like this done. Carver's words encourage for bold choices and outside of the box thinkers. Out of those ideas, I truly got something unimaginable and cool.

This means to encourage students to express themselves in anyway they see fit. Think of the things that would have never been if people had never encouraged them. This quote resonates with me so strongly because I think of how differently my life would be if I had never been encouraged to create and dream.
